Upcoming Community Events: Tenino City Park Earth Day Challenge: April 21, 2018 The PARC Foundation of Thurston County, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is working with the parks departments of the cities of Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater, and the Friends of Tenino Parks to organize an Earth Day Challenge for local schools (elementary, middle, and high school).
Within the Tenino School district, the student group that provides the most student/parent volunteers receives a financial award to their designated group or association (i.e. wrestling team, band boosters, Associated Student Body (ASB), Student Body Association (SBA), Student Parent Teacher Association (SPTA), etc.).
1st Place: $500 for the student group or association within the Tenino School district that has the most registered volunteers at the Tenino City Park on April 21, 2018.
Our goal is to raise the awareness of environmental issues by getting individuals out into the local parks for volunteer cleanups and to enjoy the outdoors.
Here is the link to the Official Event Flyer. To register, simply send an email to the Friends of Tenino Parks indicating your name(s), shirt size and the group you will be representing the day of the challenge. Only those registered and present on the day of the event will be eligible. The award is sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Thurston County; the Lions Clubs will also be providing refreshments for participants.
